WWE Smackdown Recap - 9/12/2008
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Saturday, 13 September 2008
WWE presented the post-Unforgiven editon of Smackdown last night, featuring a Fatal Four Way Match to determine the challenger to Triple H's WWE Title at No Mercy.

Triple H opened the broadcast by celebrating his victory in the WWE Championship Scramble at Unforgiven. Hunter’s joy over retaining the belt was soon interrupted by Jeff Hardy and the two traded insider barbs, as Jeff hinted that The Game’s family ties have contributed to his success, while Triple H argued that Hardy’s greatest triumphs occurred alongside his brother Matt (That is certainly a debatable point in my opinion). Hunter told Jeff that he would be rooting for him to win the Fatal Four Way main event later in the program to decide his challenger at No Mercy. Hardy granted the King of King’s wish and emerged victorious to become the number-one contender to the WWE Title, but was attacked by Vladimir Kozlov following the match.

Smackdown General Manager Vickie Guerrero introduced The Big Show, who explained his assault on The Undertaker at Unforgiven and new partnership with Vickie by stating that nobody - including The Dead Man - is above the GM’s rules. Show expressed his desire to be WWE Champion and said he would help Vickie dispose of ‘Taker in return for her assistance in his quest for the gold.

In other news, Bam Neely and Chavo Guerrero came to blows after Neely’s interference cost Chavo a match against R-Truth and Carlito teamed with brother Primo Colon to defeat WWE Tag Team Champions Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder (You may recall that this comes a scant few weeks after Primo insulted Carlito on Raw. I guess it’s just one of those WWE things that we’re not supposed to remember).

Match Results: Divas Champion Michelle McCool, Brie Bella, and Maria over Natalya, Victoria, and Maryse via “Brie’s” pinfall on Victoria … R-Truth over Chavo Guerrero via disqualification following interference from Bam Neely … Festus wrestled Kenny Dykstra to a no-contest (Jesse and Festus wheeled Dykstra away in a large cardboard box following the bout) … Vladimir Kozlov over Scotty Goldman and Funaki in a Handicap Match via pinfall on Funaki … Carlito and Primo Colon over WWE Tag Team Champions Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder via pinfall in a non-title match … Jeff Hardy over U.S. Champion Shelton Benjamin, The Brian Kendrick, and MVP via pinfall on Kendrick to earn a WWE Title Match against Triple H at No Mercy.

Is it just me or am i starting to be sick of triple h being wwe champion cause of all the politics and always have to dominate the business. He always has to hold the title. I wonder if someone like jeff hardy would end the title reign? i probably doubt it by theory but i'd like to be proved wrong. Oh and i hope the undertaker beats the big show if i think wat will happen at no mercy.

HHH has not been as prominent since his 'arrival' and needs a decent challenger/storyline. Hopefully a good Jeff/HHH/Edge/MVP etc angle will develop soon. Hope the writers pull out something good because they suck right now considering the talent on Smackdown
