TNA goes north of the border tonight for the company's annual No Surrender PPV emanating from Oshawa, Ontario. The show is headlined by a Four Ways To Glory Match featuring World Champion Samoa Joe placing his title on the line against Booker T, Kurt Angle, and hometown hero Christian Cage. Unfortunately, the star-studded main event has been regulated to an afterthought as the company focuses on Sting’s personal war with the younger generation and the return of Jeff Jarrett. I expect Jarrett, Sting, and possibly Kevin Nash (depending on his contractual situation) to play major roles in the outcome of this bout. The fact that Sting never officially took credit for the various baseball bat cameos in recent months causes me to wonder if TNA will pull a double-swerve here and align Jarrett with the old guard, while placing Sting alongside the new breed afterward. This would reveal Jarrett’s responsibility for the baseball bats and Sting as the one providing younger grapplers with guitars (the explanation being that - while sometimes critical of Joe, AJ Styles, and others - he understands that they are the future of wrestling and supports them overall). This scenario is a stretch for sure, but it’s certainly not as if TNA (and Vince Russo in particular) are strangers to such angles. Frank Trigg makes his TNA debut when he takes on AJ Styles in what the company website is billing as a “mixed martial arts match”. The bout will be contested in three five-minute rounds with decisions being determined by submission only. This could be entertaining, although I still feel that Trigg’s first in-ring appearance should have been treated as a much bigger deal rather than simply being thrown onto the card as a last-minute addition on this week’s Impact. Also scheduled for the PPV are three undercard title bouts and a Ladder of Love Match between Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt, with the winner receiving the hand of SoCal Val. On a side note, the TNA website is displaying another Mick Foley-style happy face wrapped in barbed wire with the line “Have A Nice Sunday!” and the No Surrender logo underneath. This would seem to tease an appearance by The Hardcore Legend on tonight’s show; however, Foley has already agreed to be at Dawn Marie’s Wrestler’s Rescue event in New Jersey and is not expected to appear at the PPV. Here is the complete lineup for tonight’s No Surrender Pay-Per-View: ODB vs. Awesome Kong in a Falls Count Anywhere Match The Rock ‘N Rave Infection vs. The Prince Justice Brotherhood Jay Lethal vs. Sonjay Dutt in a Ladder of Love Match Angelina Love vs. Taylor Wilde for the Knockouts Title Abyss and Matt Morgan vs. Team 3D Petey Williams vs. Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed in a three-way match for the X Division Championship AJ Styles vs. Frank Trigg in a “mixed martial arts match” Beer Money vs. LAX for the World Tag Team Titles
