TNA Impact Recap - 9/18/2008
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Friday, 19 September 2008
Last night's edition of Impact featured Jeff Jarrett's return to the microphone and the TNA television debut of Mick Foley.

Jeff Jarrett appeared in the closing segment of the show and called Sting out to the ring. The Icon appeared and Jarrett told him that he was “full of crap” in regard to Sting's recent comments directed toward Samoa Joe and AJ Styles, reminding The Stinger that wrestlers such as Styles and Joe carried TNA long before his arrival in the company. Jarrett insisted that those men have always showed him respect and accused Sting, Booker T, Kurt Angle, and others of holding the younger grapplers back in order to protect their spot - a major factor in the demise of WCW. Kurt Angle arrived and Jarrett said that choosing the Olympian to replace him as TNA’s marquee player two years ago was a terrible mistake. Angle responded by stating that Jarrett left the company because he realized his best days were behind him and recognized Kurt as being a better version of himself. Angle challenged Jarrett to a match at Bound For Glory, but The King of the Mountain said he had nothing to prove and told the gold medalist that he did not want any part of the pain living inside of him for the past two years. Jarrett then pointed to the big screen, where Mick Foley appeared and repeated Angle’s first-ever line on TNA television, “It’s real - it’s DAMN real!” The Hardcore Legend then gave Kurt a “Bang, bang!” as Impact concluded.

Jackie Moore lured Hector Guerrero from the Spanish announce booth and into an attack by TNA Tag Team Champions Beer Money. LAX arrived to make the save and Knockout Law Traci Brooks later signed a match for next week pitting Hector and The Latin American Exchange against Moore and Beer Money with the losing team having their manager permanently removed.

Knockout Champion Taylor Wilde joined forces with Rhino to oppose Cute Kip and Velvet Sky. Following Wilde’s pinfall over Sky, the Beautiful People representatives ambushed the babyfaces. Awesome Kong hit the ring during the post-match assault and assisted the heels in brown bagging Taylor and Rhino.

Christian Cage and AJ Styles defeated The Motor City Machineguns in a fast-paced, exciting bout. Both Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin shook hands with Styles after the bell, but Shelley refused the gesture for Cage and flipped him off. Christian later warned AJ during an interview not to forget who placed him into the spotlight, possibly teasing a Cage turn to the old guard in the new generation vs. veterans feud.

This was a decent program highlighted by the tremendous microphone work from Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle during the final segment. It appears that Jarrett’s return and the debut of Mick Foley will finally clarify the heel/babyface roles between the veterans and new breed, something that feud has needed for quite some time.

Match Results: AJ Styles and Christian Cage over The Motor City Machineguns via Styles’ pinfall on Chris Sabin … The Prince Justice Brotherhood over Petey Williams, Johnny Devine, and Jimmy Rave via Super Eric’s pinfall on Williams … Booker T over Jay Lethal via pinfall following interference by Sharmell … Knockout Champion Taylor Wilde and Rhino over Velvet Sky and Cute Kip via Wilde’s pinfall on Sky.
