Last night's Impact featured AJ Styles taking on Booker T in the main event, as well as appearances by Jeff Jarrett, Sting, and Kurt Angle.
Jeff Jarrett opened the show by coming to the ring and announcing that Mick Foley would appear live in the Impact Zone next Thursday. Kurt Angle arrived and took exception to Jarrett’s reference of Foley as the biggest acquisition in company history. The former Double-J expressed his respect for Kurt’s 1996 Olympic gold medal victory and told Angle that he had requested AJ Styles return the trophy to him. Kurt feigned appreciation for the gesture, but then proceeded to order Jarrett from the ring. As The King of the Mountain made his way up the ramp, Angle goaded Jarrett back inside with personal remarks about his father and three daughters. Jarrett confronted Angle face-to-face and accepted a match against the Olympian at Bound For Glory.
LAX and Hector Guerrero battled Beer Money Inc. and Jacqueline, with the stipulation being that the losing cornerperson would be permanently banished from managing their team. Robert Roode used James Storm’s beer hat on Homicide to gain the win for his team, which hopefully means that we will no longer have to endure Hector’s Latino Heat impersonations on the microphone.
Sting cut a promo and stated that he turned down a deal from Vince McMahon to join TNA at Jeff Jarrett’s request. The Icon showed photos of various wrestling legends such as Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, and Arn Anderson in order to illustrate the respect he had for those men. Sting concluded his speech by vowing to claim the World Title from Samoa Joe at Bound For Glory.
Christian Cage appeared as a guest on Karen’s Angle and declared himself a free agent in the veterans vs. new generation feud. Cage later became involved in the Booker T-AJ Styles main event when he prevented Sharmell from hitting Styles with the mysterious briefcase Booker has been toting around since last week. AJ caught Cage holding the case and thought the worst, allowing Booker to capitalize by shoving Styles into Christian and nailing The Phenomenal One with the object to score the pin.
In other news, Roxxi dressed up as Raisha Saeed and attacked Awesome Kong in a post-match assault.
Match Results: Matt Morgan and Abyss over The Rock 'N Rave Infection via Morgan's pinfall on Jimmy Rave ... Awesome Kong over Mercedes Steel via pinfall ... Beer Money Inc. and Jacqueline over LAX and Hector Guerrero via Robert Roode's pinfall on Hernandez. As a result of the loss, Hector is now barred from managing LAX ...
