WWE presented the final edition of Smackdown on The CW Network last night, which included an in-ring confrontation between The Undertaker and General Manager Vickie Guerrero, as well as the crowning of new Tag Team Titleholders.
The broadcast kicked off with a blockbuster tag team match pitting WWE Champion Triple H and Jeff Hardy against Montel Vontavious Porter and The Brian Kendrick. After the No Mercy main eventers picked up a win, Hardy presented Hunter with the belt and shook his hand. The Game later appeared during a Vladimir Kozlov-Great Khali bout intent on gaining revenge for the Ukrainian grappler’s attack last week, but soon found himself double-teamed by the two towering powerhouses. Jeff Hardy attempted to make the save for Hunter, but ended up on the mat courtesy of a Khali chop. Triple H retrieved a sledgehammer from underneath the ring and used the weapon to drop The Punjabi Giant. Kozlov teased a confrontation with Hunter, but instead opted to retreat to the back.
Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder placed the WWE Tag Team Championships on the line against Carlito and Primo Colon. Primo displayed some impressive offense here en route to he and his brother capturing the Smackdown straps from the former Edgeheads.
The Big Show and Chavo Guerrero accompanied Vickie Guerrero to the squared circle as the blue brand’s General Manager called out The Undertaker. The arena lights went out during Vickie’s speech and Chavo disappeared upon the hydro returning. The Dead Man was then shown on the TitanTron assaulting Chavo inside the GM dressing room, prompting Vickie to send Show to her nephew’s rescue. As a concerned Vickie stood alone mid-ring, the arena once again went black; when the power was restored a second time, ‘Taker appeared and Tombstoned his boss as the show closed.
This was a decent episode of Smackdown, although I hope more heat is put on the Jeff Hardy-Triple H match at No Mercy next week following the harmony between the two on this program.
