WWE SmackDown Recap - 10/03/2008
The News - Wrestling  |   Written by Adam Wilcox   |   Saturday, 04 October 2008
SmackDown debuted on MyNetwork TV last night with a star-studded broadcast featuring each Champion from Raw, SD, and ECW.

The show was headlined by a three-way Champions vs. Champions Triple Threat bout involving the top titleholder from each company brand. Triple H emerged victorious over ECW kingpin Matt Hardy and World Champion Chris Jericho after a Pedigree on Matt. Jeff Hardy later came to his brother’s aid following a post-match attack by Jericho and delivered a Twist of Fate to Hunter in the process. However, as The Charismatic Enigma prepared to leap from atop a ladder Jericho had placed inside the ring, Vladimir Kozlov appeared and headbutted Jeff as he soared toward the Ukrainian powerhouse.

The Big Show arrived backstage during a General Manager’s discussion and informed Mike Adamle, Teddy Long, and Tiffany that he was running the SmackDown side of things for the evening due to The Undertaker Tombstoning Vickie Guerrero last week. Show blamed Chavo Guerrero for Vickie’s injuries and placed him in a Handicap Match against The Great Khali and Mark Henry as punishment. After the two colossal grapplers destroyed Chavo, Show punched out The Mexican Warrior on the arena floor. As the big man made his way to the back, the arena lights went out. Upon the power returning, The Undertaker appeared in the ring and gave his cutthroat gesture as a sign of impending doom for Show at No Mercy.

This was a strong show for SmackDown’s initial outing on its new television home. I am somewhat surprised that Edge - arguably the blue brand’s top performer - did not make his return, but it appears WWE may be saving that moment for PPV.

My network tv where I live cut off the last 15 or 20 minutes of the show and aired that sitcom with Bilushi in it. Did this happen to any one else or am I the only unlucky one?
