UFC News: Anthony Pettis Defeats Benson Henderson To Win The UFC Lightweight Title

Anthony Pettis was telling the world the rematch with Benson Henderson wouldn’t go five rounds. He was right on the mark as Pettis defeated Henderson in the main event of UFC 164 to win the UFC lightweight championship by verbal submission (armbar) at 4:31 of the first round.

The fight started with the former champion pushing Pettis into the cage and using his clinch game on the Wisconsin native. After getting out of the clinch and a single leg takedown attempt, was when Pettis went to work as he threw a variety kicks at Henderson. Pettis then attempted a cartwheel kick that ended up with his right knee getting Henderson in his ribs, with the former champion able to still get Pettis to the ground.
