UFC 162 Bonuses: Weidman Picks Up Bonus After Knocking Out Anderson Silva

After knocking out the longest reigning champion in UFC history, Chris Weidman picked up a little extra money for his handywork.

The new middleweight champion picked up an additional $50,000 for his “knockout of the night” win over Anderson Silva.

UFC officials also announced after the card that they were handing two $50,000 “fight of the night” bonuses as well. Those went to featherweights Frankie Edgar and Charles Oliveira with the other one going to featherweights Cub Swanson and Dennis Siver. There was no “submission of the night” bonuses due to no submissions on the card.

Edgar and Oliveira fought a three round war with Edgar (16-4-1 MMA, 10-4-1 UFC) defeating Oliveira (16-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) by unanimous decision (30-27×3) in a fight closer than the scorecards would indicate.

Siver and Swanson kicked off the main card of last night’s main card. The two top featherweights put on a show as Silver won the first round with Swanson coming back to win the second. Swanson (20-5 MMA, 5-1 UFC) then closed the show and stopped Siver (21-9 MMA, 10-6 UFC) in the third by TKO to pick up his fifth straight win.
