Ronda Rousey Highlights UFC 170 Fight Bonuses

In the main event of tonight’s UFC 170, Ronda Rousey garnered her first stoppage by strikes as she defeated Sara McMann to retain the UFC women’s bantamweight championship. The champion also ended up with some extra cash in her pocket at the end of the night.

It was announced during the post-fight press conference that the fight night bonuses went to Rory MacDonald and Demian Maia for their “Fight of Night”, which MacDonald won by unanimous decision. Rousey and Stephen Thompson for “Performance of the Night”, with Rousey defeating McMann and Thompson defeating Robert Whittaker.

The four fighters received $50,000 bonuses.

Dana White UFC Fight Night 29 Video Blog

The UFC returns to action tonight as UFC Fight Night 29 takes place from the Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The main event features a key welterweight between Demian Maia and Jake Shields. The co-main event will feature another welterweight bout as Dong Hyun Kim faces off with Erick Silva.

Before all fight cards UFC President Dana White releases a video blog to promote an upcoming card and a look back at previous events. The latest blog from White previews tonight’s card and takes a look back at UFC 164 at the end of August.

The card featured Anthony Pettis defeating Benson Henderson in the main event to capture the UFC lightweight title. The co-main event featured Josh Barnett beating Frank Mir.

The video blog takes a look at White getting a custom Harley Davidson motorcycle designed for him and takes a look back at the UFC 164 event.

UFC Fight Night 29 Official For October in Brazil

It had been rumored that the UFC would be returning to Brazil in October and now the event is official. The UFC made official UFC Fight Night 29, which will take place on Wednesday, October 9 from the Jose Correa Arena in Barueri, Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The five round main event of the show will be former Strikeforce middleweight champion former UFC welterweight title challenger Jake Shields squaring off against former UFC middleweight title challenger Demian Maia in a key welterweight bout.

Shields hasn’t competed inside the octagon since June when he defeated Tyron Woodley at UFC 161 by split decision. The former Strikeforce star is 2-0-1 in his last three fights.

Maia hasn’t fought since February he defeated Jon Fitch at UFC 156 by unanimous decision. The Brazilian has won three straight since dropping down to 170 pounds.
