Dixie Carter grabbed the mic from Magnus and told Gunner that he might not have the breifcase by next week. She said he would have to face her nephew EC3 with his case on the line. MVP said that since Gunner has to defend his breifcase against Dixie Carter nephew tonight, EC3 should put his Feast or Fired briefcase on the line as well. MVP and Dixie Carter agree to make the match between Gunner and EC3 a Ladder Match for both Gunner’s and EC3′s Feast or Fired breifcases. In Ring Segment: Abyss made his ring entrance, sand mask. He apologized for the way things had played out, but his buddy Eric Young wanted to prove Abyss and Joe Park were one and the same. He demanded Eric Young to come out and see what he had created. Eric Young made a tentative entrance and stopped short of the ring. Eric Young said he was just trying to help. Abyss asked why Eric Young wouldn’t come closer. Eric Young slid in the ring and they stood face to face.

Eric Young said he didn’t understand why he was upset. He said Park asked him to help him find Abyss and he did. Abyss held up his mask and said this was the reality of the situation. He said he proved Park was Abyss. Eric Young said he loved Abyss just like the people did. Eric Young said when he pulled the mask off he proved who Abyss was. Abyss screamed at him “Who am I? Better yet, who the hell are you?”

Abyss said he had carved his body to bits and destroyed lives and careers. Abyss said the scars on his arms tell the story. He calmed down and sounded like Joesph Park. He said he couldn’t be Abyss anymore with the conscious he now had. He said he couldn’t be violent anymore and he needed help. Eric Young said they would finish this together and he could help.

Abyss said he didn’t want or need his help. He said they were done. Abyss said he needed to go away and fix Eric Young’s mistake by finding someone who truly understand him. He dropped the mic, threw the mask down, and left…

We get back to see Bully Ray kick a chair into Mr. Anderson’s face, but Mr. Anderson comes back with a chair shot of his own before going under the ring for a table. He sets it up but Bully kicks him in the head, and Anderson is busted open so Bully Ray wipes the blood on his own face.

Dixie Carter says she is a business woman and knows this the right choice, but MVP says he came to make a difference and the deal won’t happen. MVP throws the contract in the garbage and makes a challenge, for Lethal Lockdown with all TNA shares on the line. Dixie initially says no, but MVP goads her a bit and Dixie finally agrees, and says it’s not going to be the result he wanted.

JPOV: Okay edition of TNA Impact Wrestling. It was great to see The Wolves wrestling on Impact tonight even tho match was very short. I really enjoyed the Casket Match between Bully Ray and Mr. Anderson. With that saying there wasn’t much to take away from this show and that seems to be the common theme I take away whenever I’m watching TNA Impact Wrestling each week.

He says he won’t stand idly and her reign of terror is over, so he will take any action to show her that the party is over.

JPOV: Lackluster show in my opinion. Too much Dixie Carter on the screen and too many in ring promos tonight. I enjoy the Monster Ball Match with Eric Young and Abyss. This MVP investor is not going to work in my opinion. There so much potential with this company with the roster they have. The focus is on WWE mid carders that got fired and if they expect that they are going to bring in revenue, its not going to happen.

TNA Impact Wrestling Spoilers For Tonight’s Show, New Investor Comes Out

Impact Wrestling

TNA taped tonight’s edition of Impact Wrestling at The Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. You can watch the show tonight on Spike TV starting at 9 p.m. ET. Here is what took place at the tapings.

-Magnus and Rockstar Spud headed to the ring for a promo. Magnus got some great heel heat. Though it could be that he’s English. He said he saw off Sting like he did Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles. He spoke about “thinning of the herd” by Dixie, ridding TNA of the dinosaurs to make way for the new stars like Bro-Mans, Zema Ion, Spud, and Magnus. He said he singlehandedly eliminated the above faces. EC3 took exception to that.

-They were interrupted by Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle. Angle and Joe came out to huge reception. The heels exited. Angle was super over. He said they were there to avenge the “screwing of the herd”. He said Magnus is a paper champion. Loud “paper champion” chant. He said he regrets accepting Magnus into the Main Event Mafia.

-Magnus said he’s a somebody and Kurt can’t accept that he’s champion. Joe said they’ve come to Glasgow to fight, and a tag match was set with Angle and Joe vs. Magnus and EC3. Magnus issued the challenge. If heels win, then Angle and Joe are gone! Joe suggests that whoever pins Magnus gets a title shot. Hot opening.

-Hold on. Dixie Carter the match isn’t happening. Magnus wasn’t happy. Dixie said there’s too much going on with the investor arriving and she can’t risk him losing the title to Angle or Joe. Magnus made the match anyway. That seemed a bit confusing.

-We can hear but not see what’s happening backstage. That was a mess. Something about the Wolves waiting for the investor to arrive?

-Velvet Sky and Madison Rayne beat Gail Kim and Lei’D Tapa. Velvet pinned Gail clean. Very short match.

-Chris Sabin came out berating Velvet, saying he hadn’t heard from her since last week. He suggested she’s gone crazy due to PMS. He demanded an apology and a massage. Loud no chants! Velvet said, “We’re done!”.

-Ugh. The video screen seems screwed. Audio but no visual. Kurt was threatening someone not to interfere tonight. Sounded like Bobby Roode.

-James Storm was super over. He detailed his history with Gunner before it fell apart and called him out so he could put an end to it. Gunner said they both had a goal to be great, and they achieved that as a team and that when he won the briefcase something changed. He said he had to make a decision for his family, and Storm would have done the same. He said he learned in the Marines that you don’t fight for the government, you fight for the man standing beside you. Storm said he knows Gunner is a great man and a hell of a wrestler. He said his kids are most important thing, and his daughter asked him why he’s mad at Gunner. He said he has Gunner’s back. They shook hands.

-Bad Influence came out to cause trouble. Daniels said James Storm is a liar who wants beer, attention, and ugly fat women. And the TNA title. He challenged them to a tag match with the briefcase at stake.

-James Storm and Gunner defeated Christopher Daniels and Kazarian. Gunner pinned Kaz clean and it looked like he and Gunner are an item again.

-There was more backstage footage that we couldn’t see. Dixie sounded upset with Spud and demanded that he find out who the investor is.

-You Me At Six are at ringside. I don’t know who they are, but seemingly they have the no. 1 album in the UK… With the top tier curtained off, this is a full house for the tickets they did sell. Very impressive. I don’t know how much that tier holds, but I’d guess we’re talking in the ball park of somewhere between 4,000-8,000 attendance.

-Very long break here. Wish I’d gone to the bar! Spud came out to break the monotony. I never thought I’d say that. He heeled up the Scotland-England rivalry, which got the crowd going. He said he was there to find out who the investor is. He called out the Wolves. Spud complimented them on wearing their dad’s best suits and then asked who the investor is. Silence. He interrogated them “like Magnum PI” and reminded them that he’s Dixie’s Chief of Staff. Spud was actually hilarious. Spud slapped one of them as he went crazy. The suit jackets came off and the Wolves attacked Spud. They told Spud to tell Dixie that she’ll find out who the investor is later. They said that the investor is very interested in the main event, and any wrestler who interferes will be fired.

-Video screen is finally working! EY/Abyss recap.

-Bro-Mans beat Abyss and Eric Young by DQ to retain the TNA Tag Titles. I hate both these acts, but the crowd loved Abyss. Abyss was DQ’d for attacking the referee. He chokeslammed EY after the match. The whole match was basically telling the story of EY’s struggle to control Abyss. EY said they have one experiment left – they’re going to get crazy. “I invented crazy!” Monsters Ball next week.

-Backstage the Wolves were standing by a people carrier. I guess the investor is here. Someone was shown pushing a coffin. It appeared to be Bully Ray.

-There was a video detailing some kind of encounter between Sam Shaw and Christy at his home. I think he pulled a strand of her hair then disappeared into a darkened room while she got them some wine. The lights were turned on and it was some sort of shrine to Christy with photographs everywhere.

-Bully Ray came to the ring while pushing the coffin down the ramp. He outlined his past as President of Aces and Eights and TNA champion, and spoke about how Anderson took it all away. He said he tried to break Anderson’s neck, but he keeps coming back. Ray challenged Anderson to a coffin match. Anderson walked down to the coffin. Bully Ray had left the ring and they both stood over it. Anderson asked him what happens after Ray puts him in the coffin. “Maybe I’ll piledrive your wife and kids.” Man! Anderson said he is sick of Bully’s talking; says he’ll do the fans a favour and shut his mouth. “By the way, my wife and kids say hi.” Anderson attacked Bully. They went to the ring and Anderson had a chair. Bully chickened out and left.

-There was some backstage tension between Magnus and EC3. Magnus said he’s not thrilled about tagging with a green rookie in such a big match. Magnus told him to go and cry to aunt Dixie. Dixie walked in and Magnus changed his tune.

-Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle defeated Magnus and Ethan Carter III. Joe made Magnus tap, meaning Joe is the No. 1 contender for the TNA Title per the match stipulations. Another clean finish! Is this really TNA?! Favourite insult of the night from a Glaswegian to Magnus: “Away back to Gladiators, Magnus!” Another interjects: “You were a shite Gladiator!”

-Dixie went ballistic. Joe reminded Magnus that he is now number one contender. There was a loud “you tapped out” chant. “Shine my belt son, cause Joe’s gonna kill you!” Angle said that nights like these make the pain worthwhile. Kurt hyped his HOF induction for London.

Dixie demanded the investor show his face. The arena went dark and…It’s MVP! It appears the show goes off the air here.

Forget Hipster Wrestling, This is Something Much Bigger

Daniel-Bryan

(note: This is a response to David Shoemaker’s Hipster Wrestling column published in July 2013)

When it comes to professional wrestling, perspective changes everything.

For example: Daniel Bryan wasn’t seen as a bona fide superstar. Until he was. And then, when he was saddled with a gimmick so bad that everybody thought it might spell the end of his main-event career, he proved that being bff with The Big Red Machine was precisely the platform he needed to break-through Vince McMahon’s glass ceiling. His meteoric rise stopped short of a lengthy WWE championship run (to which internet fans, including myself, cried foul), but left us with a severe case of ‘Daniel Bryan deserves more’ syndrome, “Yes!” chants and all. TNA Impact Wrestling Rating Surprisingly Drops (Updated)

Impact Wrestling

TNA produced a themed version of Impact titled “Genesis”. The show was expected to be a ratings increase from last week, but that ended up not being the case. Impact drew a 1.1 rating with an average of 1.32 million viewers, which is down from last week’s 1.18 rating with an average of 1.39 million viewers.

The show featured Sting vs Ethan Carter III, Bully Ray vs Mr. Anderson, a Kurt Angle/Dixie Carter promo and the show ending with Sting challenging Magnus to a world title match. Magnus accepted the challenge and they will battle on next week’s show. If Sting wins, he wins the title, if Magnus wins Sting’s contract gets torn up and is out of the company.

What could turn out to be WWE’s loss and TNA’s gain starts tonight. ProWrestling.net is reporting that former Ring of Honor stars Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards are backstage at Impact and will debut on tonight’s show.

The duo had appeared at the WWE NXT tapings in November, but the company decided they weren’t going to bring them in. Rumors had run rampant that TNA would sign them and President Dixie Carter basically confirmed the news on Twitter yesterday.

Carter then sent out a tweet a short time ago referring to Edwards and Richards.

jaybradleyupsetSteve talks to former TNA wrestler Jay Bradley, who just got released from the company late Monday night. Bradley discusses how he got released, thoughts on the departures of AJ Styles, Hulk Hogan, Jeff Jarrett. Bradley went in depth on his thoughts regarding TNA President Dixie Carter.

“I had very limited interaction with Dixie and I don’t mean that in a negative way,” said Bradley. “She was always very personable to me, easy to talk too, comes up to you thoughout the day and say, “hey how are you?” with a handshake.

“She seemed to be very knowledgeable and what was going on with the product and saying, “hey I’m looking forward to watching what you do tonight in your match with so and so, have you filmed your interview and your promos yet.”

“Very complimentary, very gracious after your match saying, “thank you for your match, thanks for your hard work today.”

Dixie Carter Not Happy With Spike TV Executives Over Airing Of AJ Styles Commericials

AJ Styles left TNA after his defeated Bully Ray in a rematch to retain the TNA world heavyweight title on the October 24 edition of Impact Wrestling. Styles then quit the company in an angle with TNA President Dixie Carter over his refusal to sign a new contract. Ever since then Styles hasn’t been seen on the show and commercials have aired on television that have been paid for by Styles.

To further the angle, TNA released a video of Carter meeting with Spike TV voicing her displeasure with the Styles commercials airing on Impact.

Do you like what TNA has done so far with the angle?

TNA Impact Wrestling Spoilers For Thursday November 14, 2013

Impact Wrestling

TNA aired a live edition of Impact Wrestling last night in Cincinnati, Ohio. After the live edition ended, TNA taped an edition of Impact that will air next Thursday on Spike TV at 9 p.m. ET. Here is what will air next week on the show.

- Aces and Eights started it off with an in-ring promo. It was more of the same as we’ve heard all along. A match between Mr Anderson and Bully Ray was set for the November 21 Turning Point edition of Impact. If Anderson loses, he leaves TNA. If Ray loses, Aces and Eights must disband. Anderson said he wanted to face a member of Aces and Eights right away. This led to the first match.

- Mr Anderson defeated Knux by Mic Check. Just one huge brawl.

- EC3 defeated Dewey Barnes and Norv Fernum in a handicap match.

- Christopher Daniels defeated Joseph Park. Daniels got the win with a low blow and a pinfall.

- Gail Kim won a squash match. I couldn’t catch the name of her opponent.

- Dixie Carter came out for an in-ring promo, the vast majority of which I never heard. Literally, the crowd was that loud. I caught enough to know that the tournament match on 11/21 will be a No DQ match.

- Kurt Angle defeated Austin Aries in a submission match as part of the TNA Title tournament. Angle won with a crossface. This was very good. Chris Shore wondered whether the crowd would compare for the two main event matches. I didn’t hear anyone saying they liked Full Metal Mayhem better, but it’s a fair perception. Cincinnati didn’t necessarily sit on its hands for this, though.

- After the match Mr. Anderson came out and asked if the crowd if they wanted another match, then offered to piledrive Garrett Bischoff onto the stage. He did so to some reaction. Bischoff did the stretcher job going into the post-Impact Xplosion match and about half the crowd left.

Video: NFL Stars Get Physical on TNA Impact Wrestling

We had reported on Wednesday that NFL star, Adam “Pacman” Jones was the surprise former world champion that would be appearing on TNA Impact Wrestling. We didn’t know the role that Jones was going to have on the show. The Cincinnati Bengal star opened up the show walking arm in arm into the arena with TNA Owner Dixie Carter and shook the hand of Ken Anderson.

Then after the opening segment of the show, Bad Influence, which consists of Christopher Daniels and Kazarian approached Jones and his teammate Dequin Evans who were sitting at ringside. After some talking back and forth, Bad Influence pushed Jones and Evans.

The NFL stars then hopped the guardrail and got into the ring and they ended bodyslamming Daniels and Kazarian.

Latest WTF Moment in TNA Wrestling as Returning Former Champ Revealed

There have been many moments in TNA Wrestling history that have left many people befuddled and confused over the years.  Choose between booking decisions, strange gimmick matches and especially on big promises coming up flat.

Here is an example of the latter of those choices.

On Tuesday, TNA President Dixie Cater shot a video saying that a former world title holder was returning “home” to Impact Wrestling this Thursday night in Cincinnati.

All of us fool hearted suckers on the Internet fell for it hook, line and sinker.  Mission accomplished TNA.  People online were speculating who it could be.  Ken Shamrock?  Maybe Raven?  How about Ric Flair?  Hulk Hogan”  Did he re-sign?

Even Steve and I discussed it on our Tuesday podcast wondering who exactly TNA was bringing back fold.  Some big name that would bring viewers to Impact Wrestling even for one night.

Dixie later tweeting that if a tweet of hers got 150 retweets she would reveal this mystery person that was making the big return.  That was no problem as she got the 150 retweets.  As promised, she gave up the name of the former champ coming home in the video below.  Pay close attention to the look to the reaction from both Jeremy Borash and Dave Lagana.

Yep, that’s right – the big reveal is former TNA tag-team champion and current Cincinnati Bengals player Adam “Pacman” Jones!  Whoop-ed-e-do!

Of course it was.  We all should have known better.  And Dixie is just being that crooked woman running the people that people love to hate.  She’s a heel folks!  And she got us.

Borash and Lagana weren’t the only ones to have a confused look when they found out it was Pacman “make in rain all up in here” Jones as the mystery man.  Here is the reaction from others once they saw the big reveal.

TNA Impact Wrestling Rating Slightly Down From Last Week

Impact Wrestling

With all the speculation of TNA being up for sale, people are still tuning into Impact Wrestling. The rating for Thursday’s edition of Impact drew a 0.9 rating with an average of 1.10 million viewers. That is slightly down from last week’s show, which drew a 1.0 rating with an average of 1.26 million viewers. The highlights of the show were Bobby Roode facing Kurt Angle and TNA Owner Dixie Carter stating that AJ Styles is no longer the world heavyweight champion.

TNA had competition though as the NFL had 6.48 million viewers for a game involving the Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins. It was the third night of the NBA season and The NBA on TNT had 2.64 million viewers for the early game featuring the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls.
