Bellator News: Attila Vegh Says Bellator MMA Is Lying About His Injury To Setup King Mo/Emmaunel Newton Fight

Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion Attila Vegh was scheduled to defend his title against Emmanuel Newton later this year. The organization released a press release on August 15th stating that Vegh had suffered a shoulder injury and Newton would be facing Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal at Bellator’s first pay-per-view for the interim light heavyweight championship.

No one really thought too much of Vegh being injured as it happens in the sport. Until now.

Vegh did an interview with Tomasz Marciniak of MMARocks.pl and told Marciniak that he isn’t injured at all. Here is what Vegh told Marciniak:

“It’s about business on Bellator’s side. People want to see the rematch between King Mo and Newton. That’s why my fight is postponed to January and I’ll face the winner of the November’s fight. I’m not injured, I’m perfectly fine.

“It may be caused by the fact that I’m a foreign fighter, I’m not an American. American people want to see their fighters, but I want give them my belt for free.”

The native of Slovakia hasn’t fought since February when he defeated Christian M’Pumbu at Bellator 91 to win the light heavyweight championship.

The first PPV for Bellator MMA will be Saturday, November 2 from the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California. The main event will feature Tito Ortiz against Quinto “Rampage” Jackson with Michael Chandler defending his lightweight title against Eddie Alvarez, with the aforementioned Lawal vs Newton bout and Pat Curran putting his featherweight title on the line against Daniel Straus.

Bellator MMA Adds King Mo vs. Emmanuel Newton Rematch To PPV Card

Bellator MMA is going all out for their first outing on PPV. The organization added another fight as they announced Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal will get his rematch against Emmanuel Newton for the Bellator MMA interim light heavyweight title at Bellator 106.

The California based promotion created an interim title fight due to Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion Attila Vegh suffering a shoulder injury.

Lawal and Newton first met at Bellator 90 when Newton knocked out Lawal with a spinning backfist to advance in the light heavyweight, with Newton winning that season’s tournament.

Lawal came back and won the Summer Series tournament to get the rematch with Newton.

The former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion feels the fight is already over.

“Listen, I’m going to be real honest about this. Emanuel is fake as hell,” Lawal said. “He runs his mouth about being a black skinhead or something, and likes to act real hard. He’s as hard as baby shit. I’m going to destroy this guy. He landed a shot on me in our first fight, nothing more than that. I’m better than him in every facet of the game. I didn’t even shoot on him that first fight. I can take this fight anywhere I want it, and I will. It’s over. I’m taking that belt in Long Beach, bringing it back to Las Vegas, and no one is getting it back. Not Vegh, Not Rampage. Not Tito, not anyone. It’s mine. Payback is bitch, Emanuel.”

Newton feels he knocked out Lawal once and will do it again on a bigger platform.

“I’m not going to spout off and trash Mo, I don’t have to do that,” Newton proclaimed. “I know Mo is going to run his mouth and try to sell his game, but I don’t have anything to prove. I’m the one that knocked him out, and he’s the one that has to deal with that loss on his record, not me. I did it once, and I’m going to do it again, this time on an even bigger stage. History likes to repeat itself, and November 2nd Mo’s going to have to deal with another big loss on his record.”

Bellator 106 takes place on Saturday, November 2nd from the Long Beach Arena in Long Beach, California. The main event will feature Rampage Jackson facing Tito Ortiz and the co-feature will be Michael Chandler defending his Bellatot lightweight title against former champion Eddie Alvarez in a long awaited rematch.
