CM Punk’s Latest Pipe-Bomb is Friendly Fire

CM Punk Kendo Stick

Let the ranting and raving begin.

At some point last night, news broke that CM Punk wasn’t just off from Monday Night Raw this past week – he actually walked out of the company. Punk told people he was “going home” or some other such nonsense. And he left WWE. Done.

We don’t know the real story here, or what finally pushed Punk over the edge enough to just walk-out before Raw. What we do know is that he’s been pulled from all upcoming advertising. This includes house shows, Elimination Chamber, and even the grandaddy of ‘em all, Wrestlemania, where he was penciled in going one-on-one with Triple H. CM Punk also revealed late last week that his contract was signaled to end this coming Summer, and that negotiations hadn’t even started. [Read more...]

Report: CM Punk Left WWE Over Batista, WrestleMania

cmpunktmzTMZ Sports is reporting that CM Punk walked out of WWE on Monday night before Raw and went home after being upset about his role for WrestleMania XXX and Batista being put in a main-event position.

According to the report, Punk was upset when he learned that Batista was going to win the Royal Rumble which would earn him a championship match at WrestleMania XXX.   It goes on to say that “he feels Batista isn’t in great wrestling shape and shouldn’t be featured in the title match at the upcoming WrestleMania (the biggest event of the year).”

Punk was said to be very upset when he learned that he would be facing Triple H at WrestleMania and would not be in the title match, a match he felt he earned from his work over the past year.

His being upset goes along with a ProWrestling.net story that CM Punk voiced his displeasure with about Batista being in the championship match at WrestleMania XXX at the Wizard World convention in Portland Oregon last Friday, two days before the Royal Rumble.

Punk was said to be very frustrated with his current role and the current WWE direction, not only regarding himself but that the company was not doing more with Daniel Bryan as well.

Royal Rumble (2014) Reaction: “Yes!”

Daniel Bryan rumble

It didn’t take long to figure out last night that WWE is pretty out-of-touch with its core audience.  On the pre-show, we saw the New Age Outlaws defeat the Rhodes Brothers… the same Rhodes Brothers team that has looked absolutely unstoppable since joining forces in Fall of 2013.  On the upside, this probably means we’re headed towards a Cody vs Goldust pairing at ‘Mania.  I can dig that.  But as far as Road Dogg and Billy Gunn goes, while it’s awesome to see them back in action and still in great shape (really), this whole “give them the titles because they’re fun” facade felt premature.  When did they earn a title shot recently?  I’m worried the whole tag-team division took a step back last night. Poll: How Would You Grade The 2014 WWE Royal Rumble?

rumblelogo

The 2014 Royal Rumble took place last night. Batista won the 2014 Royal Rumble eliminating Roman Reigns to win the match. In the co-feature, Randy Orton defeated John Cena to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. It was Daniel Bryan who stole the show with his match of the night match with Bray Wyatt and the crowd chanting his name throughout the night.

Mick Foley Goes Into Detail Regarding Daniel Bryan And The Royal Rumble

foley

After last night’s Royal Rumble event, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley expressed his frustration with the WWE and how Daniel Bryan should have been in and won the Royal Rumble.

Foley then went on his Facebook page today and posted this blog.

“Yes, I’m going to put a brick through my TV. It’s just going to have to wait until tomorrow. I had every intention of putting a brick through my TV tonight, after seeing that Daniel Bryan was not even entered in the Royal Rumble match, let alone going to win the thing. But, upon seeing their dad with a brick in his hand, my younger children got a little bit scared, thinking their dad had lost his mind. A rather spirited debate about the wisdom of following through on the promise to put a brick through my TV ensued with my wife – and, as is usually the case in marital debates, I, being the husband, did not emerge victorious. Honestly, the points she made about mercury and glass fragments everywhere were pretty good ones.

“But I’m still going to put a brick through my TV. It’s just going to have to wait until tomorrow – when the kids are in school, and I can take the TV outside the house for the actual throwing of the brick. Granted, it’s not nearly as dramatic as doing it live, right after the Rumble, but at least I will be keeping my word.

“As I mentioned on Twitter, I’ve never felt so disgusted at the conclusion of a WWE (or any) PPV. Like many of you out there, I just don’t get it. This Daniel Bryan thing is a phenomenon. You get it. I get it. The fans in Pittsburgh (yes, I was thinking of writing “RIGHT TH…but I’m just not in a cheap pop mood) got it. But tonight, for the first time, I had to admit to myself that the powers that be are just not going to get it. And that makes me sad. I’m just honestly sad, just flat out fucking sad (yes, I dropped an F-bomb there to emphasize how F’ing sad I am for the guys who bust their butts night in and night out – Ziggler, Punk, Bryan, etc – with no hope of getting their shot at this year’s Mania.”

“You know who else I’m sad for? Me. In my two years as an official WWE Ambassador, I never once had to lie about my enthusiasm for the company or the product. Now, although I am no longer officially an Ambassador for WWE (believe it or not, my only official role in WWE is as GM for Saturday Morning Slam, a contract that ends in one month) I was till looking forward to being part of the biggest event of the year. I’ll probably end up going anyway. But I’m about 1/6th as excited about it as I was just a few hours ago. I wanted so badly to hear 75,000 WWE fans chanting “YES” – and seeing fans walk away absolutely ecstatic about the outcome of a PPV for the first time in a while…a long while. But when given the chance to make it happen (unless they’ve got something MAJOR up their sleeve) WWE’s answer tonight was a resounding ‘NO, NO, NO’.”

Mick Foley Buries The WWE In Regards To Daniel Bryan

foley

Mick Foley announced about ten days ago that his contract with WWE was about to run out soon. The WWE Hall of Famer agreed to a deal in where he was going to work with the company on a case by case basis. Well going off on tonight, who knows if we will ever see Foley in the company again.

Daniel Bryan opened the WWE Royal Rumble losing in a very good match to Bray Wyatt. Fans were assuming that they would see him in the Royal Rumble match later in the show. Much to the fans chagrin, Bryan never appeared in the match and the crowd let everyone know their displeasure.

Batista Wins The 2014 WWE Royal Rumble

The Animal

Batista hadn’t been in a WWE ring in almost four years. “The Animal” returned last week to Raw. The question was whether he could win the Royal Rumble in his grand return.

The match started with CM Punk at number one and Seth Rollins at number two.

Early on we seen at number 12, the return of Dolph Ziggler and at number 14 the return of former WWE champion Kevin Nash and another former champion Sheamus returned at number 17. Roman Reigns came in at number 15. Reigns ended up eliminating 12 wrestlers which broke the record that Kane set in the 2001 Rumble.

Batista made his return at number 28. The former WWE champion eliminated Erick Rowan, Ryback and Alberto Del Rio in succession. Then after almost getting eliminated by fellow Shield member Dean Ambrose, Reigns eliminated Ambrose and Rollins.

The final four guys were Batista, Punk, Reigns and Sheamus. Punk got eliminated by Kane who came from underneath the ring and pulled him over the top rope and then chokeslammed him under the table.

Moments later Sheamus was in a sequence with Batista and Reigns speared him off the apron to leave it down to Reigns and Batista.

By this point, the fans who already booing when Daniel Bryan didn’t appear in the Rumble grew louder on Batista. The final sequence was Reigns speared Batista. Reigns then looked at the WrestleMania sign, Batista grabbed Reigns and threw him over the top rope.

Batista wins the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble.

WWE Royal Rumble 2014 Results: Bray Wyatt Defeats Daniel Bryan

braywyatt

Daniel Bryan is quite arguably the most popular superstar in the WWE. He turned back to babyface two weeks ago on Raw. Would he be able to defeat Bray Wyatt tonight at the Royal Rumble?

Bryan gets a great reaction coming out to the ring and Wyatt comes out next. Bryan starts out the match by getting Wyatt to the outside. Erick Rowan started to attack Bryan and the referee sent Rowan and Erick Harper to the back. Wyatt told them he’s got it. The guys get to the outside and Bryan sends Wyatt into the steps. Wyatt gets back into the ring and Bryan lands several leg kicks.

Bryan does an Indian deathlock type of maneuver and drops Wyatt. Bryan lands several more body kicks. Wyatt ends up on the apron and Bryan tries to suplex him, but Wyatt gets on the apron. Wyatt knock Bryan off onto the floor. Both guys are back in the ring and a moment later Wyatt has Bryan in a chinlock. Bryan gets up and then Wyatt throws Bryan over the top.

Wyatt does his backward spider move and splashes Bryan. Wyatt lands a bodyslam and then attempts an elbow, but misses. Bryan makes his comeback with some body kicks.

Bryan gets Wyatt to the top and lands a hurricarrana. Bryan throws Wyatt into the ropes and Wyatt lands an elbow. Wyatt attempts a suplex, Bryan reverses and lands on the apron. 2014 WWE Royal Rumble Predictions

rumblelogoThis Sunday, it’s the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view headlined by Randy Orton against John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the annual Royal Rumble match with the winner earning a title shot at WrestleMania XXX.  Here are the match predictions from the Between The Ropes staff.

WWE Tag Titles:  Cody Rhodes and Goldust vs. New Age Outlaws

Brian Fritz:  It’s funny that Goldust and Cody Rhodes are the anchor of what has become a pretty good tat-team division in the WWE but you can easily see them splitting up which would lead to a long-rumored match against one another at WrestleMania.   If they do split, I can even see the Outlaws winning the titles but only holding them for a short time before passing them on to another team like the Usos.  I’ll go against all of that though and say the brothers stay together a while longer and get the win.
Michael Wiseman:  Good to see that the New Age Outlaws can earn a title shot by only competing in three matches (one of which they blatantly walked out of).  My issue here is not that Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are competing at this level – I think they’ve both shown by now that “they’ve still got it” – but more that they’re essentially serving in curtain-jerk duty.  WWE should feed off the nostalgia a little more and put them in an actual FEUD for the WWE Championship.  And perhaps that’s where we’re headed.  But for now, Rhodes Brothers to retain.

Steve Muehlhausen:  This is a match I didn’t think we would ever see especially considering we are in 2014. Still don’t see how the Outlaws are getting a title opportunity considering they only beat the champs in one non-title match, but so have other teams. Anyways, this match will be better than people think especially with the Rhodes brothers in it. Speculation has been rampant that the brothers will break up and that is a bad idea. Don’t think WWE decides not to do that. Rhodes brothers retain.

Daniel Bryan vs Bray Wyatt
Brian:  Everyone believes that this match will be at least good because it includes Bryan which is true.  This is an opportunity for Wyatt to step up and show what he has in a big singles match.  If Bryan wins, that could mean the end of this feud but I’ll go with Wyatt to get the victory in a slight surprise which would open the door to Bryan not only being in the Rumble match but possibly being the last man standing.
Michael:  This match has the potential to be surprise of the night – it all depends on whether or not Bray Wyatt can shake off his green edges and show some decent mat skills.  I’m glad to see that Bryan is still involved in something noteworthy after his main event fallout.  So I’m going to pick him for the victory here.  Daniel Bryan needs a big win to keep his momentum going, and Bray Wyatt has yet to suffer a devastating loss since his debut last Summer.  If Bryan does win, however, it probably spells doom for his Rumble chances later in the night.
Steve:  This match is happening a month earlier than I thought it would. Bryan joined the Wyatt’s in an ill-fated heel turn on the final Raw of 2013 and was smartly turned back to a face about two weeks ago. This match should be good because Bryan is in it and Wyatt is a very underrated worker. This is a huge match for Wyatt because if you have a bad match with Bryan, then you won’t make it. I’m going with Wyatt here as he desperately needs a win here and I see bigger things for Bryan later in the show.

Brock Lesnar vs. The Big Show

Brian:  While Big Show got to toss around Lesnar on Raw, this match is about the Beast Incarnate getting a decisive win against the giant.  No fluke wins, no interference, no getting tossed around for ten minutes and then connecting on an F5 out of nowhere for the pin.  This needs to be Lesnar showing that anyone standing in his way will get taken out and that’s what we will get here.  He has an agenda and that is the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.  But in reality, it looks to be a match against The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX as he looks to end the Dead Man’s streak.

Michael:  Listen up, 2003, you finally got what you always wanted: a Big Show/Brock Lesnar feud.  This whole thing just reeks of last minute place keeping.  I guess I’m supposed to feel threatened by Big Show’s size, but when we’ve seen Brock Lesnar dominate similar opponents, including Mark Henry (which, for the record, is a feud I would feel much more vested in), then the stick walls built around this storyline start to crumble.  There’s no way Brock Lesnar loses here – and I have my doubts it going to be a match worth remembering.  Oh well.

Steve:  This match is going to be better than people think here. The buildup has been really solid and the match will be no different. Lesnar needs the win here as he has big things laying ahead of him going forward. Going with Lesnar by devastation.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton vs John Cena

Brian:  It would make total sense for Cena to win here and would make a lot of people happy.  Not because people are clamoring for another Cena title run.  It’s because that could signal a match against Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania.  We’ve already seen the plan change when it comes to Bryan, pulling him out of the Wyatt Family after just two weeks.  Could we see another change?  I’m hoping for it but I don’t think it will happen.  Instead, they will still with the original gameplan with Orton getting the win.  And yes, that will be two straight months where Cena has lost in the main event of a pay-per-view.  Hopefully he can recover.
Michael:  Sorry, Cenation… John Cena is NOT going to be your next WWE World Heavyweight Championship.  It simply isn’t going to happen.  I think if Vince McMahon (and therefore creative) wanted John Cena as their leading champion, then he would have “conquered the odds” and overcame the obstacles at TLC.  As it stands, this whole thing is just a ruse to make the WWE Universe hate Orton just a little bit more.  Will he cheat to win? Probably. Am I starting to dig his character again?  For sure. But Cena has other plans for ‘Mania.
Steve:  Still trying to figure out how Cena gets a rematch here, as I would have went with another guy here if you want to make Orton look strong. The buildup has been blah except for the attack on Cena’s father almost two weeks ago. No one is interested in the match due to the fact of who the champion is. Rumors have stated that Orton will be the champion heading to WrestleMania, but I don’t know how they can considering he isn’t a draw in any sense. The match should be ok and I’m going with Cena to get the win and become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
The Royal Rumble
Brian:  In my “Odds for the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble” column, I listed Batista as the favorite at 2 – 1.   There is a reason he was brought back now: to win the Rumble and challenge for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX.  Following the big ratings that Raw did on Monday night for his return, who can say that’s the wrong choice.  Personally, I’d like to see Daniel Bryan get the win which would make for a better story and let Batista chance the title a little longer, possibly turning heel along the way.  But the plan has been for ‘The Animal’ to win here so I’ll stick with that.
Michael:  Wow, my chances of being right here just went down to approximately 1 in 30 (less if you consider that I don’t know all the surprise entrants yet).  But that’s okay, because I feel pretty confident in my pick:  Dave Batista.  It’s obvious WWE wants to capitalize on his recent, and future, film success.  So this is essentially Vince McMahon’s substitute Dwayne Johnson for Wrestlemania 29.  They brought him back as a face to feud with the obvious Randy Orton, and set up the big “Evolution vs Evolution” payoff at ‘Mania where Triple H (and possibly Ric Flair?) has a direct stake in who wins.  I’m not really excited about the prospect.  Batista SHOULD be a heel – it’s where his best promo work lies.  Unfortunately, Vinnie Mac loves his genetic wonders, and Dave falls directly under that “more size = more ratings” equation that everybody seems to think works so well.  I wish this were Bryan (who, btw, would be my #2 pick). The rest of my top five: (#3) Brock Lesnar, (#4) Roman Reigns (#5) uh.. The Undertaker?

Steve:  I know the popular pick here is Batista to win the match. Yes the rating was good for Raw especially in the opening hour, but let’s remember here that it was only one week and that was expected considering the hype of his return. Batista stated to Randy Orton on last week’s Raw that he came back to be the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. If that was a program your going with for Mania, you don’t do that segment right out of the shoot.

I’m going with Daniel Bryan. When your getting national and worldwide attention for what you are doing, you have something there. Is Bryan a star? Yes! Has he been miscast? Yes!  Will he win The Royal Rumble? Yes!

Odds for the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble

Royal-Rumble-photoBreaking down the chances for the 2014 WWE Royal Rumble participants.

While there is a big game coming up in a few weeks that people like to wager on, another event is taking place this Sunday which will have plenty of highs and lows itself, especially for those with a rooting interest.

That is the WWE Royal Rumble featuring the annual 30 person over-the-top-rope extravaganza, entering at timed intervals with the last one standing getting a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the showcase of the immortals, WrestleMania XXX.

Yeah, it’s a big deal.

It’s also a big deal and a real fun one for those watching at home.  And there are plenty of people – myself included – that take part in a Royal Rumble pool with a couple of Monopoly bucks on the line.   Everyone picks their number before the match and then waits in anticipation to see if you get a real contender or The Brooklyn Brawler.

The look on someone’s face when they are hoping for John Cena but instead get Gillberg with one of their numbers is priceless.

With the Rumble just days away, here are my standing odds for this year’s participants.   Note: I am taking a few liberties because the entire 30-superstar field has not been announced and I am taking some liberties with who else I think will be included.

THE SANTINO MARELLA AWARD (WITH A NOD TO THE WARLORD)

Wade Barrett

This goes to the person who will be in the Rumble the shortest time with Santino holding the record of one whole second before being dumped over the top rope, breaking The Warlord’s seemingly unbreakable record of two seconds before elimination.  While he is not officially one of the participants right now (and mysteriously disappeared from the WWE list earlier in the week) Barrett is the perfect guy for this spot.  I’ve got some bad news for him: he’s not going to be getting a title shot at WrestleMania XXX.

Odds:  1000 – 1

THE “AT LEAST WE ARE IN THE ROYAL RUMBLE AND GET A PAYDAY OUT OF IT” GROUP

It’s an honor just to be one of thirty people to be in the Royal Rumble right?  Well, for some it is.  Let’s be honest, for most people in the match they really have no chance at winning it.  But that doesn’t mean they can’t put on a good show while you’re out there.  So here are the longest of shots

Xavier Woods

Sorry rookie, not your time.

Odds:  500 – 1

R-Truth

Maybe he can sell some of his CD’s to fans at the show.

Odds:  400 – 1

The Miz

Not awesome – for him at least.

Odds:  400 – 1

THE “WE HAVE A LITTLE BETTER CHANCE BUT NOT REALLY” GROUP

Evan Bourne

Yep, he’s still with the WWE although he haven’t seen him outside of NXT in two years.  So it’s time for the big return!

Odds:  300 – 1

Jack Swagger

I just hope that Zeb Colter doesn’t break out Shoo Baby to punish him for not winning.

Odds:  300 – 1

Fandango

Dance on in and dance on out.  Remember, you still have Summer Rae.

Odds:  300 – 1

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan

They’ve definitely a good tag-team they have a higher purpose and that’s protecting the figurehead of the Wyatt Family.  At least they’ll be home in time to catch up on Duck Dynasty or Swamp People.

Odds:  300 – 1

Jimmy and Jey Uso

A fantastic tag-team and could easily be in the line for the titles in the near future.

Odds:  300 – 1

Kofi Kingston

Kofi has stamped his mark several times in the Royal Rumble using his athleticism to escape elimination.

I’m sure he’ll come up with something again this year but that will be his legacy here.

Odds:  300 – 1

THE FEEL GOOD STORY

Jake “The Snake” Roberts

Jake has been wanting this for a long time.  He was absolutely giddy about his return to Raw a few weeks ago and this would be a dream come true for him after so many years of fighting addiction.  I say give him his moment, let him DDT someone in the middle of the ring.  Fans will eat it up and Jake will appreciate it.

Odds:  250 – 1

THE “IT WOULDN’T BE TOTALLY CRAZY BUT STILL NOT HAPPENING” GROUP

Christian

Another big return!  Unfortunately he was sidelined for a while following a concussion and has been cleared to the ring.  We haven’t seen him though as WWE tried to come up with something creatively for him.  I’m not saying that Christian should be a world title contender but he is a great talent and should have a good mid-card role.

Odds:  150 – 1

Goldust and Cody Rhodes

The brothers will be busy this night, first defending the tag-team titles against the New Age Outlaws and then trying to land a championship match by winning the Rumble.  With rumors that they could square off against one another at WrestleMania, I could see a scenario where the lose the tag belts and then one of them costs the other in the Rumble to set up a match.  My personal preference would be to keep them together as tag champs and continue to anchor the division for months to come.

Odds:  150 – 1

Damien Sandow

Here’s a guy that seems to get close to taking the next step (having great matches with John Cena) and then having to put over The Great Khali.  He’s getting there but it’s baby steps for now.

Odds:  100 – 1

Antonio Cesaro

Another guy who is not officially in the match but it would make sense that he be in there to fill the quota.  Originally, I thought about including several surprise returns like Rob Van Dam and Chris Jericho which could happen but chose not to.  Cesaro is definitely a guy that deserves a shot to stand out on his own and come out of the Rumble looking great.  Get him out of the Real Americans team and push him.  And who doesn’t want to see him Giant Swing someone.  Here’s a suggestion:  Jake “The Snake”.  Or not.

Odds:  100 – 1

THE “WE’RE GETTING TO THE GUYS WHO HAVE A REAL CHANCE” GROUP

Rey Mysterio

A former Royal Rumble winner back in 2006 and still holds the record for the longest time in a single Rumble clocking in at 1:02:12.  That seems like a long time ago now but he still has to be considered a dark horse.

Odds:  50 – 1

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose

It almost seems like they are the other two guys of The Shield with Roman Reigns getting so much attention these days.  I think both of them will be the workhorses of this match and try to keep it together.   Even though they have already said that no matter what happens at the Rumble they will still be a tight group afterwards, we know that is wrestling talk for “prepared for the split to begin”.  But I can see either of them as singles stars in the coming years.

Odds:  30 – 1

Big E. Langston

The current Intercontinental Champion has been impressive, especially over the last few months.  It looks like things will continue to get better for him in 2014 and then him becoming a world champion in 2015.  He’s close.

Odds:  20 – 1

THE “WE HAVE A REAL CHANCE IF SOMEONE SLIPS OUT OF THE RING” GROUP

Alberto Del Rio

Yes, I am putting Del Rio in this group.  Say what you will about him but WWE still plans on keeping him at least near the top of the card.  And he definitely has a feud both in and out of the ring brewing with Batista who is a made man in the company.  I could see a scenario where he wins the Rumble only to lose his title shot before WrestleMania.  Unlikely but possible.  What might be more possible is he and Batista shooting on one another in the ring in the near future.  Book it!

Odds:  15 – 1

Sheamus

Yet another big return!  This really wolud be a big return with Sheamus out since last August following surgery for a torn labrum in his shoulder following a brutal bump at last year’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view.  He has also revealed that his other shoulder was banged up too although it didn’t require surgery.

Sheamus won’t come back until he is 100% and doesn’t want to risk further injury.  The timetable works and he could be healthy enough for a return here.  If that’s the case, he’ll get a good run in the match and will be back in the main event picture soon enough.  Hopefully a heel turn as well – funny Sheamus doesn’t work for me.

Odds:  10 – 1

Bray Wyatt

It makes sense that he would be in this match with Harper and Rowan there to watch his back.  I have no idea what the plan is for WrestleMania with Wyatt but one of the rumors has been a match with John Cena.  If that were to happen, he would need a strong showing in the Rumble.   I don’t see that match happening but WWE has something in the Wyatt Family and people look at him as a credible threat here.

Odds:  7 – 1

CM Punk

Punk has a long night ahead of him as the number one entrant in the match.  The most likely scenario for him is that he gets screwed in this match with either The Shield ganging up on him or maybe Kane observing at ringside and pulling down the ropes with Punk helplessly flying over and to the floor.   Punk has never won the Royal Rumble and I don’t see it happening here.  I do see him in a big match against Triple H at WrestleMania XXX though.

THE FINAL FOUR

While everyone always tries to guess the winner, the true I-really-think-I know-what-is-going-on person guesses the final four of the Royal Rumble.  Here’s my best stab at it.

Roman Reigns

You can tell that the WWE has big plans for Reigns when the time comes that he splits from The Shield.  It just depends on when exactly that happens.  He already has a devastating spear that is putting away opponents left and right.  And now he has added an incredible Superman punch to his arsenal like the one he did to Cody Rhodes on Raw this past Monday which almost put him on dream street sitting next to the “American Dream” baby.

Still, it’s not his time for the win here.  My guess is he breaks Kane’s record of 11 eliminations in the Rumble and it one of the big talking points of the match.

Odds:  5 – 1

Brock Lesnar

Yes, the Beast Incarnate is not listed for the match but I can easily see him pulling double duty especially since Paul Heyman has expressed that his client has his sights on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.  Lesnar being included in the match would add some major juice to it and another true threat to being the last man standing.

Odds:  4 – 1

Daniel Bryan

Yep, another guy who is not included in the match as it stands right now.  But everyone wants to see him in it.  YES!  And just about everyone wants to see him win it.  YES!

WWE has already given the people want they want (shout out to Jalen Rose)  and switched course with Bryan, taking him out of the Wyatt Family after the monster response he continued to get from the live audience at their shows.  Or even from people attending non-WWE events like what happened at the recent Michigan State – Ohio State game.  YES!

It seems like a no-brainer that Bryan should at least be in the match and even make it to the end.  While I could easily make a case that he should win, YES! and then go on to beat either Randy Orton or John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX YES!, I’ll say he comes close but isn’t able to stand alone.  NO!

Odds:  3 – 1

Batista

Yes, the Animal is the odds-on-favorite to win the Royal Rumble.  That’s no surprise and it really shouldn’t be either.  It sure looks like the plan has been for him to return in time to win the Rumble and then square off against former Evolution member Orton at Mania.  While Daniel Bryan – and especially his legion of fans – have tried to throw a monkey wrench into those plans, my guess is that Batista still comes out a winner.  And then sporting skinny jeans on Raw bragging about his win.

Odds:  2 – 1
