Benson Henderson vs Rustam Khabilov To Headline First UFC Event in Albuquerque

The UFC has never headed to the state of New Mexico, until now. It was first reported by the Albuquerque Journal and later confirmed by the UFC that former lightweight champion Benson Henderson will battle Rustam Khabilov.

The fight will be the main event of a UFC Fight Night event and will take place on Saturday, June 7 from the Tingley Coliseum in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was announced that tickets go on sale to the public, Friday April 18. It also isn’t known at this time where the broadcast will end up on.

We last saw Henderson in the cage in January at UFC on Fox 10 when he defeated Josh Thomson by split decision. Khabilov last competed in November at UFC Fight For The Troops 3 defeating Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision.

No other fights have been announced for the card at this time.

UFC Fight Night 31 Video Highlights

UFC Fight Night 31 took place last night at the base in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The main event featured Tim Kennedy defeating Rafael Natal in the co-main event and in the co-feature, Alexis Davis defeated Liz Carmouche.

UFC Fight Night 31 Bonuses: Tim Kennedy Heads List of $50,000 Winners


Tim Kennedy defeated Rafael Natal by TKO last night in the main event of UFC Fight Night 31. For his victory, Kennedy earned a $50,000 bonus for Knockout of The Night along with Michael Chiesa won Submission of The Night and Jorge Masvidal and Rustam Khabilov won Fight of The Night got the same amount as Kennedy.

Chiesa kicked off the main card and defeated Colton Smith in lightweight action by a rear naked choke in the second round. It was a great for bonuses for the lightweight as Masvidal and Khabilov had a war with Khabilov winning a very entertaining unanimous decision. UFC President Dana White said during the post-fight press conference stated it was tough to pick a fight of the night due to a lot of great fights, but went with Masvidal and Khabilov.
