When you think of WrestleMania, you think of Hulk Hogan. The question has been since Hogan left TNA, is when he will he appear at WrestleMania? Hogan says he will definitely be there even if he has to be there as a fan.
In an interview with the Baltimore Sun, one of Hogan’s closest friends, WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart says that Hogan will be at the biggest event of the year in professional wrestling.
“Hogan knew I was doing this press tour with WWE promoting the DVD,” Hart told the Sun. “He told me to say exactly this: Hulk Hogan will be at WrestleMania if he has to buy a ticket and sit at ringside.
“I think he can step into the ring one more time. We have a school in Florida, and he stepped into the ring there and did some stuff, and he looked great. As his friend, I’d be the first one to say, ‘Listen Hulk, do us a favor, just go out to the ring to Real American, say OK Brother, rip the shirt, do the pose, sign a bunch of autographs and people will still be just as happy, but he does have a couple of good matches left in him, he really does. I’ve got my fingers crossed we see something at WrestleMania.”
WrestleMania 30 takes place on Sunday, April 6 from Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. No matches have been announced yet for the show.
Do you think Hogan will have to buy a ticket or will he walk the aisle one more time at WrestleMania 30?
It was another busy weekend for the WWE crew as they went overseas including a pair of shows in Abu Dhabi. Anywhere that the WWE goes, there are always interviews done, especially when they are out of the country and international media rarely get a chance to speak with any WWE superstars.
This time, it was Ryback doing a short interview while in Abu Dhabi to promote the shows and he was asked several generic questions. But he decided to use that interview to share his thoughts on some people who must not be big Ryback fans.
When asked about WrestleMania 30 next year and who his dream match would be, Ryback answered, ”Yeah I think a lot of people put a little too much credit into the Internet. It’s run by a lot of negative people who should not have an opinion according to me because a lot of them just have no clue how to live life. But if I could pick just one opponent for WrestleMania 30 it would be The Undertaker because I want to be the guy who ends the streak. I like getting people pissed off and mad. And for every person that says I don’t deserve that or I can’t do that, I will prove you wrong time and time again because all of you suck.”
In what was an awkward final segment in last night’s TNA Impact Wrestling, Hulk Hogan quit TNA. In a segment with TNA Owner Dixie Carter, she left Hogan with an ultimatum telling she can join him in Team Dixie or Hogan can suffer the consequences. Hogan decided to quit and Carter begged Hogan to stay and even got on the ground and grabbed his leg, with Hogan dragging her.
A lot of people have been very critical of the angle as it was very awkward and basically made Carter look bad in the process. We now know why the segment was like that. We had reported a few weeks ago that Hogan’s contract was set to expire on Tuesday.
The Wrestling Observer reported the reason the segment came off like that was due to the fact that Hogan had creative control in his contract. The only exit Hogan would do is where he left on his own, without endorsing anyone, putting anyone over or TNA even ridiculing or burying him on the way out.
Hogan has had creative control in his contracts since his days in WCW. That clause played a notable role in the finish with his match with Sting at Starrcade in 1997 and his match with Shawn Michaels in 2005.
TNA and Hogan are discussing a new contract, but at a reduced price. Hogan was making a reported $35,000 per appearance for 30 appearances a year. It is unknown at this time whether the WWE and Hogan have been negotiating. With Hogan being a centerpiece of the WWE 2K 14 video game coming out at the end of the month and WrestleMania 30 in six months, that would be an assumed possibility as well.
Was it fair for Hulk Hogan to not put TNA over last night?
On the latest Between The Ropes podcast, Brian talks with Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and F4WOnline.com to talk about this Sunday’s Summerslam pay-per-view and the directions they could possibly go in the John Cena – Daniel Bryan – McMahons storyline, laying out plans for WrestleMania 30 next year, if The Rock will be coming back or another possible big star, when the WWE Network could possible launch, if that could be tied to current WWE TV deals, what networks may be interested in WWE and the landscape of big money deals in sports, young talent on the main roster right now and more.
According to a report in The Wrestling Observer, without telling anybody Johnson is not at WWE Monday Night Raw as scheduled.
The Observer states that the WWE was planning to shoot the main event angle for Wrestlemania 30 tonight with Johnson and Brock Lesnar. There is right now “absolute panic” backstage and rewriting the show as we speak.
PWInsider.com is reporting that Johnson was set open tonight’s Raw discussing his WWE Title loss to John Cena last night Wrestlemania 29. Lesnar and then Paul Heyman were going to confront Johnson and lay him out setting up the angle for Wrestlemania 30 on April 6,2014. PWInsider also confirms that Johnson flew to Los Angeles, catching the company by total surprise and generating heat backstage.
According to The Wrestling Observer, Johnson suffered an injury last night in the match with Cena. The severity of injury is not known at this current time.
That doesn’t seem to be a good reason to skip out on the show as all Johnson would have had to likely do is talk and at the worst take one or two bumps. We will be providing more updates as more comes to us.
