First In-Ring Segment: Here’s HHH to get things going. He says part of his job is to find new talent that can truly succeed in the WWE. At the top of that list, there is no one higher than the Shield. Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns are three of the most talented guys he’s seen come along in years so he gave them power.

Maybe it was too much though because they tried to see how far that power can take you on your own. When you set out on the journey to find that line in the sand, make sure you don’t cross it. The Shield found that line and on Monday they crossed it. We get a clip from the end of Raw with Evolution taking out the Shield to end the show in a huge beatdown.

HHH told Cole on Wednesday that he was willing to allow Shield to give an apology and put everything behind them. All he got was silence though, save for a response from Roman Reigns. Roman said that soldiers win wars instead of soldiers. That’s a great line for a movie, but it’s not reality. In reality, soldiers are the currency on which empires are bought and sold. The Shield has lost their value and while it hurts HHH to destroy what he created, he’ll do just that at Extreme Rules. In life you adapt or perish, and that’s Evolution. He announces that the Shield will take on Evolution at Extreme Rules.

First Match: Alberto Del Rio vs. Big E

We get an inset interview with Big E. saying he’d love to face anyone. He’s also been in a pop, lock and drop it competition in Tampa. Big E. runs Del Rio over and gets a quick one to start but Alberto fights out of the triple backbreaker. A running enziguri in the corner is good for two on the champion before he charges into Del Rio’s boots in the corner.

Del Rio stomps away but misses a charge into the corner to give Big E. a breather. The announcers talk about past IC Champions as Big E. runs Del Rio over a few more times. Big E. hits a belly to belly into the Warrior Splash, only to have Alberto get his knees up. Back from a break with both guys getting back in the ring but Big E. charging into the post.

A DDT gets two on Big E. but he catches Del Rio diving off the top in a backbreaker. Now the Warrior Splash connects and there go the straps. The Big Ending is countered into a Backstabber for a close two but Big E. blocks the armbreaker and makes the rope. Del Rio won’t break it though and that’s a DQ

Winner: Big E by DQ

Post match Del Rio loads up the superkick but walks into the Big Ending.

Tonight after SmackDown on the WWE Network, There will be a special edition of the Legends of WrestleMania show hosted by Josh Matthews and special guest will be Booker T, Sgt Slaughter, and Ted DiBiase and they will discuss the passing of the late great Ultimate Warrior

We get a vignette for upcoming NXT Superstar Bo Dallas

Second In-Ring Segment:Paul Heyman comes out and brags over and over about how Brock Lesnar broke the Streak, then he gloats and takes a bow.

Second Match: Paige vs. Aksana

Before the match, Tamina says she’s taking the title at Extreme Rules. Before the match Aksana insults Paige and says everyone is jealous of her despite Paige just getting lucky. She jumps the champion and there’s the bell, only to have Paige go off on Aksana in the corner. They head outside where Aksana nails a hard clothesline followed by that release spinebuster of hers inside. She doesn’t cover though and rubs Paige’s face in the mat for two instead. We hit a reverse chinlock for a bit until Aksana needs to crawl around the ring. A running cross body puts Paige down but Aksana can’t follow up either. Paige fights back and hits a running dropkick followed by the scorpion crosslock for the submission.

Winner: Paige

Renee Young interviewed Sheamus, he said that he is ready to get his payback on Batista

Third Match: El Torito w/Los Matadores vs. Hornswoggle w/3MB

The announcers play this as a total joke so let’s get this over with. They shove each other around to start until Torito runs him over a few times, sending Horny to the apron. The leprechaun rocker sends him head first into the middle buckle and drops a bottom rope Banzai Drop. A hard clothesline and splash get two for Horny and we hit the horn lock. Seriously. Horny plays some air guitar and gets rolled up for two. Just end this thing already. Please. Torito comes back with a Gore and Bronco Bustero followed by a top rope moonsault for the pin.

Bad News Barrett rips on the previous match and blames the audience for what we just saw.

Fourth Match: Alexander Rusev w/Lana vs. R-Truth

Truth actually gets in some offense such as a middle rope dropkick but Little Jimmy is caught in midair. The superkick and fall away slam set up the Accolade for the submission for Rusev.

Winner: Alexander Rusev

We get a recap of the WWE’s tribute of the Ultimate Warrior on Monday Night Raw

Fifth Match: Fandango w/Layla vs. Santino Marella w/Emma

Santino does a slow motion kick to the leg for no apparent reason so Fandango hammers him in the head. Fandango misses a charge though and Santino comes back with the usual schtick. Layla steals the Cobra sock so Santino sunset flips Fandango for the pin.

Winner: Santino Marella

Sixth Match: Batista vs. Sheamus

Batista pulls him to the floor to start and the brawl is on early. Sheamus takes him back inside and cranks on the arm before nailing the ten forearms. A running knee puts Batista on the floor and we take our last breakBack with Batista kicking the steps into Sheamus to take over. More power offense keeps Batista in control and a powerslam gets two. Sheamus throws him to the floor for a breather and sends Batista shoulder first into the post.

A Batista Bomb is broken up and another knee lift rocks the Animal. Ten lame looking forearms to the chest set up the battering ram for two. The Irish Curse gets two but Sheamus can’t hook the Cloverleaf. Batista ducks the Brogue Kick and heads outside before another kick misses inside. Spear gets two on Sheamus but he backdrops out of the Batista Bomb. He goes up top but gets crotched onto the top rope, setting up the Bomb for the pin.

Winner: Batista

WWE Not Allowing Anyone On The Nancy Grace Show

Nancy Grace caused a stir last week when she interviewed Diamond Dallas Page regarding the passing of The Ultimate Warrior last week. On the show, Grace went into business for himself and strongly implied that Warrior passed due to drug and steroid abuse. Then she ran a scroll of people who passed away in wrestling from past abuse and included Owen Hart, who didn’t pass away from that in the slightest bit.

TMZ is reporting that WWE will not allow anyone connected with the company to ever appear on her show again if they want to keep a working relationship with them due to what happened with Page.

The Wife Of The Ultimate Warrior Releases Her First Statement Since His Passing

Photo from WWE.com

Photo from WWE.com

Eight days ago the wrestling world lost former WWE champion The Ultimate Warrior at the age of 54. Since his passing we hadn’t heard from his family. This morning his wife Dana made her first statement since her husband’s passing.

Dearest Warriors,

It is with an absolutely broken heart I reach out to you. Since the passing of my husband, I have been fortunate enough to insulate my sweet girls and myself from the outside world. In this bubble we have grieved and continue to do so. For a week, I did not allow any television or media to seep through our cocoon. I was told, though, of the outpouring of love for my beloved husband and support for, as he always called us, his Warrior Girls. I can only say thank you.

On Sunday night, I was told WWE would pay tribute to Warrior and so I set the DVR planning to watch it when we were ready. As the hour neared, I broke resolve and turned on every TV in the house to full blast and snuggled our daughters close to me on the couch, unsure what we would see. As the scene unfolded with that amazing roster of talent gathered donning Ultimate Warrior shirts and even his face paint, we cheered and sobbed simultaneously. To everyone who stood there, thank you. My girls will remember your bowed heads for the rest of their lives. You are not just Superstars; you are super people.

I cannot put words to what that video tribute meant. We watched it multiple times and, this morning, it was how I started my day; mornings are the hardest for me. I will treasure that song and those images more than anything I own. Vindication. ULTIMATE PERFECTION.

I was told it was reported WWE was “there” for us. “There” is the understatement of a lifetime. They were a warm blanket to us three and we were quickly absorbed into their family. Words are cheap; promises are forever. This family is one I’m honored to be a member of and will gladly be the warm blanket to any of them who need me next.

My husband’s speech had so many highlights for me as I sat proudly in the audience looking on at his moment … I most loved his request for the Hall of Fame to include the, as he called them, “true Superstars,” those behind-the-scenes people who make the machine run. See, I’m the person who puts up the ring in our house. I’m the background person who makes things happen seamlessly. I am surrounded by performers in my husband and children, so I felt a kinship with all the people he wanted to shine a spotlight upon who make WWE work. He loved you all, and knew that each of you made his run there possible. Thank you!

To all the ULTIMATE WARRIOR fans: THANK YOU!! He told me when he shook the ropes it was him gathering strength from each of you. Warrior respected you and loved you as do the girls and I. I will reach out to the ropes for your strength to sustain me in the sad days that the girls and I face. UNWAVERING is what you’ve been. GRATEFUL is what we are.

The Undertaker and I have a lot more in common than you might think. You see, I had a bit of a streak of my own going for the last 20 years. Yes, Warrior and I would have matches of our own … He would yell, I would cry, he would submit, I would win – always. My quivering chin and “pooched” lip was always more powerful than any clothesline or gorilla press slam. He’d laugh and shake his head and say,”you win, Pooch,” but really we both did.

My streak was broken April 8, 2014 when he collapsed. I fought and screamed and cried for him not to leave me, but I wasn’t to win this round. Heaven won and I lost, but I had the ULTIMATE love for 20 years and my children learned to be Warriors from THE ULTIMATE DAD. I wouldn’t trade a moment of the life we shared, good or bad, for anything on God’s green earth. He is the love of my life and gave me the gift of our beautiful, sweet, amazing girls. He was loyal and kind and strong and brave. He taught me to live by his creed,”Live Strong, Act Bold, Be Brave. Nothing’s too hard to do, ALWAYS BELIEVE,” and with that creed I will carry on and make him proud.

Streaks are broken but legends live forever.

Always Believe,
Dana A. Warrior

WWE Smackdown Spoilers For Friday April 18, 2014

smackdown

The WWE held their Smackdown tapings last night in Nashville, Tennessee. The show will air on Friday night on the SyFy channel starting at 8 p.m. ET. Here is what happened at the tapings.

Triple H opened Smackdown with a promo and announced that Evolution will face The Shield at Extreme Rules.

-Intercontinental Champion Big E defeated Alberto Del Rio by DQ.

It was announced that the Night of Champions pay-per-view will be held in Nashville on September 21…

Paul Heyman cut a promo reminding fans that Brock Lesnar is the one in 21-1. Cameron labeled it a “tremendous promo”…

-Paige beat Aksana. A physical match that was reminiscent of NXT women’s matches. It’s almost as if giving them some time to work with is a good thing.

Sheamus was interviewed backstage.

-El Torito beat Hornswoggle. No, seriously, writes Cameron. That match actually happened. I will say that it was entertaining than I thought it would be, but it was still a waste of time.

-Alexander Rusev beat R-Truth. A sub-3 minute squash, but Rusev looked vicious during the match and had a post match decimation of Xavier Woods. “I feel bad for Woods because he deserves better than this,” writes Cameron. “Lana is even more awesome live.”

-Santino Marella (w/Emma) defeated Fandango (w/Layla). Santino won via sunset flip. It was not an especially great match, but there was a very Emmataining moment when Emma took out Layla. That distraction is what let Santino pick up the win. There was some bad comedy after the match with Emma asking for a high five and Santino forgetting to take the cobra sleeve off.

-Batista defeated Sheamus with a Batista Bomb. A pretty decent fight. They worked in some great near falls on both sides, but the right guy went over for sure.

After the taping, Batista grabbed a mic and challenged Sheamus to a last man standing match which Sheamus won via Brogue kick to send everyone home happy. Side note: Sheamus grabbed a Warrior-clad little girl from the crowd and carried her around for a bit. It was a touching enough moment that one of the photographers had to wipe away tears. He finished up the evening by signing some autographs and posing for photos. What a class act.

He says that there’s also a big problem coming to the ring named the Big Show. He says that Show is a posterboy for laziness in this country. Colter ends his promo by saying he does not miss the swiss. The Big Show’s music hits and he heads to the ring.
