Chris Jericho Returns to WWE

Former WWE Champion Chris Jericho made his return to the company on Raw, appearing for the company for the first time in a year.

Earlier in the day, Triple H teased the following on his Twitter account:

WWE.com continued with the tease and included this clue:

Details on this potential return are scarce, but WWE.com sources say that this ring warrior is a cross-platform entertainer who has found numerous successes outside of the squared circle.

That led a lot of people to believe it was going to be The Miz who has been gone for the last four months to film the WWE film “The Marine 4”.

In fact, the WWE even announced The Miz as the former WWE Champion who was making his return.  But as he was bragging about his return, the lights went out and the music hit for Jericho to a thunderous ovation.

The Miz then began to run down Jericho before he was laid out with a Codebreaker.  Jericho then began to talk on the mic before the Wyatt sounder played and the entire Wyatt Family surrounding him in the ring.  That lead to a Jericho getting beat down, complete with Sister Abigail by Bray Wyatt.

Jericho tried to throw everyone off the scent of a possible return during the first hour of Raw when he posted this tweet:

Jericho admitted recently on his “Talk is Jericho” podcast that he was opening to coming back earlier this year at WrestleMania 30 but there wasn’t the right opportunity for him.

Y2J last appeared with the WWE back on July 19, 2013 when he came up short against Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Championship and was then attacked by Ryback to write him off.  Since then, Jericho has been working on other projects, including his band Fozzy.

He later did an interview with WWE.com stating that he would no longer be a full-time wrestler so he could focus on other endeavors like his band and his acting ventures.

It is still not known how long Jericho will be back for and what exactly his role will be going forward.  He is also set to appear on tomorrow night’s Smackdown taping in Newark, NJ.

Jericho could possibly square off against Bray Wyatt at the Battleground PPV on July 20th with the show taking place in Tampa with Jericho living nearby.
