Demetrious Johnson Set To Defend UFC Flyweight Title At UFC 177

If Demetrious Johnson was looking for a long layoff, he isn’t getting it.

Yahoo Sports is reporting that Johnson will defend the UFC flyweight title against Chris Cariaso at UFC 177 on August 30 from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California. The fight will serve as the co-main event of the show as the main event is the rematch between UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw and Renan Barao.

Johnson competed last month defeating Ali Bagautinov will be going 77 days in between fights will be looking to make his fifth straight title defense.

Cariaso last competed at UFC Fight Night in May defeating Louis Smolka by unanimous decision. The title challenger, who was won his last three fights was scheduled to face Kyoji Horiguchi at UFC Fight Night 52.
