An Open Letter From Between The Ropes

BTR Fans,

Allow us to say thanks.

Throughout the last year, we’ve seen our site traffic grow over 120%. We’ve been on site at some of the biggest shows of the year, and tried to bring you the best in interviews and breaking news. But these things wouldn’t haven’t been possible without the incredible support of our fanbase. You guys have visited our website, downloaded our podcasts, and stayed in touch with us on social media.

Our staff has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure we keep the momentum going. And its not for a big paycheck or internet glory. It’s because, at the end of the day, we’re all wrestling fans, just like all of you. Sometimes we criticize the product. Occasionally, we love things you all don’t, or hate the things you all love, but we’re all just as passionate about the product as each and every one of you.

And now comes the next step.

Since Between the Rope’s inception, we’ve strived to be a different kind of wrestling hub. We haven’t focused on unfounded rumors, and have never dug too deep into the backstage politics of who’s in hot water with the creative team (and why). We’ve seen no need to post fifteen different articles about the fact that Vince McMahon wanted John Cena to look strong after SummerSlam (duh). We believe in interesting content. We break big stories and talk about them, but really, we focus on the interesting ones. The “dirt sheetz” didn’t tell you much about North Korea, or the possibility of Sheamus playing Darth Vader, but that’s the exact kind of wrestling counter-culture stuff we dig here at Between the Ropes.

So with that growth – and with our creative vision in place – you’re going to notice a few changes around here. For starters, our main podcast, the ‘Raw Recap’ will be undergoing an evolution this week. We’re going to rename it ‘The Flagship’ and make it a one-stop shop for all things wrestling. RAW will still be a piece of the show, but we’ll be breaking down news, answering fan questions, and even talking about what we’ve been watching on the WWE Network. You said you wanted more, and we are going to deliver.

Speaking of podcasts, our ‘Cheap Pops!’ experiment has been a huge success. As such, not only are we planning on making that a regular program, we’ve decided to branch out into more entertainment-type stuff. You’ll notice we have even added a new “Entertainment” area to our menu. While we’re still “wrestling first” here at Between the Ropes, we can’t ignore the crossover between wrestlers, MMA stars, and Hollywood. There’s a natural overlap in place that we are excited to cover.

One more thing… Steven Muehlhausen announced his departure from the site last week to pursue other opportunities, and we wish him nothing but the best. His drive helped bring Between the Ropes to where it is today. We’d like to publicly say, “thanks.”

Along those same lines, we’re looking to grow our staff even further. We’re still working out all the details but if you’ve wanted to get involved with Between the Ropes and be at the forefront of Wrestling/MMA/Entertainment coverage, keep an eye on our site for your opportunity.

Again, we appreciate all you have done to help us reach our goals so far. We are excited about the future of Between the Ropes.
