Paul “Triple H” Levesque Inducted Into International Sports HOF

Paul “Triple H” Levesque was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday in Columbus, Ohio at the Arnold Classic.

He went in as both an athlete and as an executive for his work with World Wrestling Entertainment. HIs classmates included Evander Holyfield, Lenda Murray, and Michael Jai White among others. The crowd included other Hall of Fame members such as Mark Henry and Randy Couture. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger joined the class of 2015 on stage for their induction.

With his wife, Stephanie McMahon, sitting front row with their three children Triple H gave the final speech of the class.

Unlike other inductions, the International Sports Hall of Fame speeches were kept brief. Even in that brief amount of time Triple H managed to put forth a memorable speech that resonated with the crowd.

“I’m humbled to be on this stage,” said Paul Levesque.

Levesque continued on by singling out Murray in his speech as an inspiration to women everywhere.

“I’d like to specially, for just a second, say thanks to Lenda (Murray) because I got three little girls. You transcended a sport, you transcended just being an athlete. Made it possible for women to be more. That’s awesome.”

Triple H’s speech even had a bit of comedy as he used Henry as a punchline, and mentioned his father-in-law Vince McMahon which prompted Stephanie McMahon to shout from the front row to much laughter in the room.

The entire time Triple H was on stage he kept looking down to his wife & kids, smiling. The love they have for one another as a family shined on this day, and was a sweet sentiment in an odd setting among media and a small number of invited guests. It showed what a special day this truly was as the WWE brought NXT to the Arnold Classic as part of the WWE Experience.

Gov. Schwarzenegger closed the induction with a short speech of his own. The former governor will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame’s celebrity wing on WrestleMania weekend.

The International Sports Hall of Fame recognizes athletes and executives from all walks of life. The 2015 class was one of its best ever, and the inclusion of Triple H elevates his place in this unique world of sports. He has shined on the biggest stages of sports entertainment, and continues to succeed in the corporate offices of the WWE.

Triple H is slated to face Sting at WrestleMania XXXI at Levi Stadium. It can be seen via the WWE Network to subscribers.
