Lucha Underground 4/1/15 Results & Reaction

Dairo Cueto Segment: 

The Mack, Big Ryck and Killshot introduce themselves to Cueto. Ryck mentions that Cueto directed the hit on Ryck. Cueto says that Ryck, Mack and Killshot can participate in the brand new trios tournament to crown the very first Lucha Underground Trio’s Tag Team Champions. Ryck also told Cueto to give his money back.

Josh’s Grade for this Segment/Storyline: 85/100 B

First Match: Angelico vs. Johnny Mundo 

Angelico starts to show up Johnny Mundo. Mundo and Angelico being to trade reversal. Angelico also started to get the best of Mundo and Mundo started to get frustrated. Angelico and Mundo avoid both suicide dives. Mundo hits an impressive parkour kick and sends Angelico back to the ring. Mundo starts to gain the control and hits a series of kicks, but couldn’t put Angelico away. Angelico hits a double foot stomp that gets a two count. Angelico lands a series of kicks, but he couldn’t put Mundo away.

Mundo gives Angelico a springbroad kick, but as he went for the Starship Pain and catches a knee to the face. Angelico gives Mundo a crucifix bomb into the corner, and as Angelico goes for the pin Mundo put’s his foot on the rope before the three count. Mundo gets out of the corner, but recieves a kick as he went on the top rope. Angelico goes for a top rope hurricanrana and Mundo escapes and gives Angelico a powerbomb and Starship Pain to pickup the victory.

Winner: Johnny Mundo 

Josh’s Reaction: I thought this was a really good opener. I thought that Angelico had his best performance so far, but can’t forget about the matches he had with Ivelisse and Son of Havoc. Mundo had a good outing even though he was being challenged throughout the match. Fun opener.

Josh’s Grade for this Match/Storyline: 89/100 B+ 

Johnny Mundo and Alberto El Patron Backstage Segment: 

El Patron congratulates Mundo on his victory. Mundo ask El Patron if he will be fighting anybody that he hasn’t fought yet. El Patron chuckles and says that he almost forgot about Mundo’s sense of humor, but he also said that he almost forgot about Mundo all together.

Josh’s Grade for this Segment/Storyline: 92/100 A- 

Dairo Cueto and Sexy Star Backstage Segment: 

Cueto tells Sexy Star that he wants Sexy Star in the Lucha Underground Trio’s Tag Team Championship Tournament, but her partners Masacrita Sagrada and Pimpinela are on the shelf. Cueto announces that her partners for the match against Ryck, Mack and Killshot will be Super Fly and Pentagon Jr.

Josh’s Grade for this Segment/Storyline: 83/100 B 

Second Match: Drago vs. Aerostar 

Kick from Drago plants Aerostar and he lands a series of more in the corner. Aerostar turns the tides by knocking Drago out of the ring and hitting a double spring board dive to the outside. Aerostar gives Drago a springboard splash for a two count. Aerostar goes for a series of pin, but it doesn’t work out. Drago knocks Aerostar from the ring and slams Aerostar down on his face back inside. Drago lands a nice spinning splash from the top rope and school boys Aerostar to pickup the victory.

Winner: Drago 

Josh’s Reaction: Series is tied two for two in this best out of five series. I wonder if the unique opportunity is going to be mid-card championship since they’re debuting new titles. There hasn’t been one bad match in this series and can’t wait to see the finale of this series and I don’t think either guys will be negatively effected by losing this series.

Josh’s Grade for this Match/Storyline: 86/100 B 

Dairo Cueto, Ivelisse, Angelico and Son of Havoc Backstage Segment: 

Cueto says that Ivelisse, Angelico and Son of Havoc haven’t been getting the job done he says that they need to find a way to work with each other because all three competitiors will be joining the tag team trio’s tournament.

Josh’s Grade for this Segment/Storyline: 84/100 B 

Third Match: Trio’s Tag Team Championship Tournament Match 
Sexy Star, Super Fly and Pentagon Jr. vs. Big Ryck, The Mack and Killshot

Jr. says that his teammates are weak and he’ll win this tournament by himself because he has no fear. Jr starts the match off with Mack. Mack hits a springboard armdrag. Jr quickly changes the momentum and chop’s Mack. Mack lands a pounce, but he couldn’t get the pinfall. Jr fights back with a big lungblower and tries to break Mac’s arm, but he breaks free and tags Killshot as Super Fly tags himself in much to Pentagon’s dismay. Killshot lands a handshot headscissors, but Super Fly counters with a springboard armdrag and tags in Sexy Star. Killshot drops Sexy Star with a big back elbow and chops her. Sexy star counters and goes for a pin, but Big Ryck breaks up the pin attempt and tosses her over the top rope on to her partners.

Mac and Killshot both land suicide dives onto Pentagon and Super Fly. Star teases diving, but get’s caught by Ryck. Pentagon and Ryck go back and forth. Pentagon gets the better of Ryck and then squares off with Killshot. Pentagon gets caught in a codebreaker, but no pin attempt. Pentagon fights back with a superkick and Pentagon helps Star hits a top rope hurricanrana on Killshot followed by splash by Super Fly. Ryck breaks up the count and kicks Pentagon in the face. Sexy Star gets taken down outside. Back inside Killspree hits a cutter. Mack lands a brain buster and Killshot lands a flying knee drop to pick up the victory. Pentagon Jr. tries to break Fly’s arm, but Sexy Star drags Super Fly out of the ring.

Winner: Big Ryck, The Mack and Killshot 

Josh’s Grade for this Match/Storyline: 90/100 A- 

Josh’s Grade for Lucha Underground: 87/100 B+
