Goldberg Promises Return to Wrestling, Just Not with WWE

The last time we saw Bill Goldberg in a WWE ring, he was cracking a cold one with Steve Austin after defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX, only to get met with a stunner for his troubles. Now it looks like that will be his last time.

But that’s doesn’t mean his pro wrestling career is over.  In fact, he told Fox Sports that he will definitely lace up the boots one more time — just not with his previous employer.

I’m going to make an appearance in professional wrestling, but it won’t be for the WWE. If I put wrestling boots and wrestling trunks on one last time — and I’m going to — it’s going to be done by me and me only.

Goldberg opined a few months ago to Scott Fishman of The Miami Herald that he doesn’t watch the WWE which he refers to as a “mindless soap opera”. But even more recently he told MMA Fighting that it would “be an honor” if he ever got inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

WWE has had some conversations with Bill over the past few years about coming back for at least one match with the most likely opponent being Ryback. But it sounds like Bill is shutting the door on that. As to which group he might return with, that seems like anyone’s guess.

New Japan Pro Wrestling doesn’t look like a fit and Ring of Honor even less of one. Neither does TNA Wrestling with their right budget and you can bet Goldberg wants a pretty penny to get back in the squared circle.
