The Big Story: New Japan Pro-Wrestling star Jushin “Thunder” Liger is headed to NXT Takeover: Brooklyn Saturday, August 22. This story is intriguing as NJPW has already sent top stars Shinsuke Nakamura, Kazuchika Okada and Kushida to work for Ring of Honor that weekend. What does this mean? It’s unclear other than WWE is working with New Japan on some level. And here’s something cryptic from the Wrestling Observer‘s Dave Meltzer: “There are other significant moves being made behind-the-scenes regarding NXT and ROH that don’t involve New Japan that are likely to become evident in short order. ”

The Big Story II: Kurt Angle underwent emergency surgery Wednesday after experiencing complications from the surgery to remove a benign tumor from his neck. The Wrestling Observer reported that surgery left Angle with a buildup of fluid in his spinal cord — a near-fatal condition. The second surgery was successful, and Angle is expected to make a full recovery.
