AEW was proactive when it came to filming upcoming weekly shows and had taped enough them through at least a few more weeks through the conclusion of the TNT Championship tournament. But after that, it looks like they’ll go back to being live.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer is reporting that AEW will likely resume live shows on May 6 at Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, FL. He goes on to say that the plan is that “AEW to go back either weekly or more often starting on 5/6 from Daily’s Place”.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis labeled WWE and other sports and entertainment companies with a national audience as being “essential business” on April 9, opening the door for WWE to do live shows every week despite a stay-at-home order for the general public and other businesses.
AEW has already held live shows at Daily’s Place which is located next to TIAA Bank Field which is the home of the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The shows will still have to take place without a live audience. It will be interesting to see how much AEW had already taped and how much of that might be used. With them going back to live shows, expect more talent to return to action with AEW building up to the Double or Nothing pay-per-view on May 23.
